SACC… I was one of the original members. Believe I still have the first monthly disk around here someplace. I started the newsletter. For about three months it was called The No Name News, because we didn't have a name for the club for the first two months, and the newsletter wasn't named till the third. Haven't been to a meeting since about 88. (Then again I was out of the area from 90 till last year.) Why don't people join computer clubs? Because they are becoming more and more of an appliance. As they get easier to use, and set up, there is less reason for the average person to join. In the 50's there were stereo clubs. Anybody heard of, let alone been to one, lately? People don't join VCR clubs, or microwave oven clubs. While the microwave is an extreme example, there are plenty of VCR's that are flashing 12:00 for the time, and have never been used for unattended taping. Today people just load software and go. Not much more than popping the tape in the VCR. Personally, I don't really have the time any longer. I've got three kids, and with sports (soccer sign-up last night), clubs, school activities, I barely have time to use the computer, let alone set aside an entire evening for a club meeting. Weekends, if I had that much spare time, I'd nap on the couch. We're never home….
