Hi Tony, how do I have to understand your question? a) you want to store sound f/x (samples) in your Amiga which you want to trigger 'live', i.e. while watching the video you press the appropriate keys on your MIDI keyboard, the sounds being simultaneously recorded to your video tape, or b) you want to store sound f/x (samples) in your Amiga which you want to trigger 'automatically', i.e. you determine beforehand the exact moment of the video in which (a) certain sample/s is/are to be played and have the machine later do everythingby itself? a) is easy. You just need an Amiga sequencer/tracker program which supports MIDI as well as samples (Dr.T's Tiger Cub or KCS, Blue Ribbon's Bars & Pipes, Octamed, …) and off you go. What a coincidence – the May issue of Amiga Format (UK mag, price L3.99) has Bars&Pipes Professional 1.0e on coverdisk so you might want to try this. b) is a bit more tricky. You need to be able to have your sequencer program synchronize to the video. So you need a HiFi VCR and something to write a timecode onto the mono track of the video tape, for example – Bars&Pipes Pro plus, for example, Dr.T's Phantom SMPTE/MIDI interface box which works with B&P (and, of course, Dr.T's KCS). I don't know whether Dr.T's actually still sell the box – about half a year or so ago they had a kind of sale where they chucked it out reeal cheap… Anyway, this combination will allow you to create a sound effect list with 'frame accurate' timing which you will then mix with the original video sound while copying the video from one VCR to another.
