Hi Dan,
Glad to help when I can.
You have to do a lot of experimenting with the screenmodes and environments to
get the hang of them. Once you get that animation screen to open up, go to
Environment>Open Screens and open a screenmode of your choice. Then you'll be
looking at a blank screen. From here, begin opening up a View window, a Select
window, a Tool window etc. Then you can go back to the WB and close that
animation window. Once you get an environment you like, remember to save it
(as a Project).
You say that the animation plays very slowly for a couple of frames and then
stops. It sounds like you are trying a collision detection animation. These
take very long to calculate the physics between frames. I don't know why it
take as long as it does.
Also, when you play one of these collision detection things, you must go to
Undo to reset the animation and go back to frame one. Don't just hit the right
arrow to go back to frame one; it doesn't work with collision detection. Even
though it says it is on frame one, the object doesn't return to the starting
point. You'll get an animation that plays from the spot it left off the last
time it was played.
If you were trying a collision detection, my advice is to save that for later.
Go through the manual word for confusing word, and then read it again. That's
what I did.
I understand version 3.0 will be out end of this month. $185 for the upgrade.
You can call their BBS and inquire about ordering. (519)436-0140. Hope it
helps. 8^).
