Chuck, how do I obtain a complete description of the Flyer/Octopus cable serial
A and B ports?
Specifically, are they fully compatible with the protocols used by VCR edit
controllers? Professional edit controllers for Betacam and Panasonic MII decks
use RS422 protocol, with specific commands sent out to control source and
record decks to start to record, play, pause etc. Can one of the Flyer's serial
cables be hooked up directly to such a controller, and would the Flyer then
recognize the controller's signals to, eg, start recording at a predetermined
time and in synch with a source deck…or to start playing in synch with a
record deck?
If the answer is "no", how can the Flyer be configured to start recording (or
playing) at precisely the time a GPI trigger signal is supplied to the Amiga's
DB9 joystick control port? I have a TAO Editizer edit controller that controls
RS422 decks, but also has GPI signals that can be used to trigger Toaster
transitions….can it be used to trigger Flyer recording/playback?……how?
