Hank,
Sorry if I implied that I paid full price for my Flyer. It's a long story, but
in the end, I got a pre-booked .94 Flyer at the reduced price.
Here's the Readers Digest version of that story. (I know you're dying to know
;>)). First, all excited, I applied to be a Flyer beta tester in April/May '94
(not knowing there was going to be a premium price for the privilege). When no
word had come and the pre-book deadline was fast approaching, I asked NewTek
for advice. They said to pre-book in case my "beta application" was turned
down. I pre-booked.
Next, NewTek advised me that I was accepted as a beta tester. However, I was
shocked to find out it would mean paying full price for the Flyer and inflated
prices for the drives. After a lot of agonizing over the decision and delays
in shipping my beta Flyer, I cancelled my beta order in January '95 and
reverted to the pre-book order that was still on NewTek's books.
I finally got my pre-booked .94 pre-release Flyer in late March at the pre-book
price and paid market prices on my 9-gig Seagates. So I have no complaints
about the pricing; just the performance of my approved drives.
Regards
Mark
