Hi Patrick,
>> I am new to DTV, and am getting ready to purchase a linear/non-linear
editing platform. I was browsing and saw you had a Fast VM. One that I have
been looking at is the Fast VM with the DP/R. I'm also looking at the Pinnacle
Alladin, although I don't think it's a hybrid. Are you satisfied with your VM?
<<
You are correct in assuming that the Alladin is not a hybrid
system, unless of course you hook it to the FAST system since FAST is
putting the finishing touches on an interface with it :-)))) As far
as my satisfaction with the VM is concerned I love the thing and
wouuld recomend it to anyone. It works just as promosed right out of
the box and I have had very few problems with it.
>> What don't you like about it?<<
If I had to pick somthing it would be the fact that it only has 2 channels.
This makes effects such as a roll title over transitioning video impsoble
without going an extra generation. I would also like to see the ability to do
3D DVE's but with the coming interface to the Alladin that will be taken care
of, although it is a bit costly.
>> The company I have produces Professional Video Tournaments around the
country (our own little niche) and we are going to produce commercials for the
billiard industry as well as try to gain gain the production job for ESPN
broadcasts. Will VM do the job? <<
YES….you will have to put a few extras on the system ie. a Studio
controll Box to give you RS-422 edit controll plugs for profesional decks as
well as ballanced XLR audio plugs. You will also need to add the YUV option,
this will alow for a fully component system for formats like Beta and MII. With
thees options you should have no problem doing broadcast work with the VM.
