Chris: I've had software solutions for this offered to me on productions by gaffers and techs. Did you try your nearby friendly gaffer and lighting company? Bet the've run into this and have a solution. Also,I've also seen programs which claim to do this offered in film magazines like American Cinematographer. If you are shooting tape another possibility is to use a camera with a variable speed shutter, you can dial the roll out with the shutter. This won't work with film of course, and if you are doing talking head with long takes the roll has a way of sneaking back in. If you really don't find a solution let me know and I'll chase down a gaffer who has offered this to me. Arnie -Arnold Jones
