I'm puzzled that you consider the lower resolution of 3/4 to be a "higher"
format than either Hi8 or SVHS. MII, Betacam, or D2, yes, but 3/4? It is more
durable, but you lose resolution.
By the way, for Hi8, Fuji M221E does fine for dropouts (it is a double layer
metal particle, with signal strength comparable to first pass evaporated).
