There are some adapters made to go on the front of a standard camcorder which accept slides, the intent being to videotape the slides. Most of the results I have seen from these have been pitiful. I did see one, used with a Sony CCD-V5000, which worked very well. The V5000 has a manual white-balance which I believe was the primary factor for the good video. Aside from the Fotovix IIIS, these adapters are your only option for do-it-yourself slide to video conversion. You can always have them sent to a service bureau for conversion, but then you don't have direct control over the appearance, something I consider to be vital. It is possible to put the slides on a Photo-CD and send that out to videotape through the PC. If you don't have the VGA to NTSC converter, you could go buy a CD-i Player and use that to transfer the images. Take a look at TMTE01.PDF and TMTE02.PDF in Library 2 of this forum for more details on CD-i players. Either of these options may cost less than $699.00, depending on how many slides you have. The image won't be as good as the Fotovix IIIs, but it would work.
