If you upgraded the audio to Protools 4 channel audio, you have the equivalent of an 8000, (and 50k in your pocket!). Oh ya…Avid will only enable 8 layers of video on the 1000 as you know, but through nesting tracks you can easily go beyond the 24 layers of an 8000. And the lower reolutions are diabled as well. (the 1000 is the smart buy! 🙂 AVR 27 is an video upgrade resolution option for either system.
