Audio Tracks
Hi,
I am using a Sony SLV R1000 SVHS as my recorder in a Control L
computer controlled environment with a Sony EVS 7000 and a Sony TR
700 camcorder as the two A/B roll players. The computer environment
handles the players with the RC time code quite nicely and
accurately, but not so the non time code SLV R 1000. I can get it
to work accurately after a bit of trial and error with "edit in"
points, but I would like to automate the recorder with a external
SMPTE generator/reader which can interface with my computer
controlled editor. So- my question concerns the Monaural Audio
track(s) on the R1000. The Smpte generator writes the time code on a
linear audio track, but I wish to have the audio also on a linear
track ( Some of my output will be going to people with older VHS
machines that only have a Monaural audio head). I have noticed in the
instructional manual for the R1000 that there is a SAP track for
bilingual broadcasts which is at times in the manual is interchanged
with the term "Sub/R" (sub channel right?) . I am wondering if I
record my SMPTE time codes on this channel, and the Audio on the
other Monaural track, what will my older VHS users hear?
Monroe.
