I think the Hi-8 unit John was talking about is the Sony EVO-9650. This unit is loaded. 8mm time code generator/reader (not RC time code), variable speed noiseless slo-mo, PCM audio, digital frame buffer for storing the image while it's been recorded, and a wire remote with a jog/shuttle dial. I think the V-decks are also capable of single frame recording but I'm not sure. Don't know much about the V-decks I'm afraid. If they are capable, these might be the ones to go with, as they are a lot cheaper than the EVO-9650. CK
