Media 100 now utilizes a media 100/Quicktime codec. So your media100 files are
not QT files, but can be access by QT applications via the codec bypassing a
true file export. so you can take your footage and fairly seamlessly work with
it in Premiere, CoSa Etc. The import/export time has improved for those QT
files created in another program being brought in–expecially on PowerMacs. (I
don't have one though) Import seems especially quicker for QT or Sound designer
II files
The only drawback to using the codec is your files remain as media 100 footage
and if you wish to export them to an appl. on a different MacIntosh (one
without the Media100 boards) the codec won't work. You then have to export as
a QT movie. So to have faster access to files, you need to do all CoSa,
Premeire, etc. work on the same Mac as the Media 100 boards. Import/export QT
includes audio support.
Picture quality is excellent, no sync issues, render times for Fast f/x
transitions (includes most basic ones) is very fast. Render times for the rest
of the transitions seems faster than before. I really like the system a lot.
