A4000 Flyer Chassis
Great new chassis for A4000's
It's called the HighFlyer and increases the standard A4000 chassis to a total
of 8.9", so you may want to move the monitor.
However, it comes with a new expansion card vertical bracket which you swap
with the current 4000 bracket. Now you have slots, running as shown:
Zorro III (top slot in original A4000 card now top slot in HighFlyer)
Zorro III (second slot down in original A4000 card)
Zorro III (third slot down in original A4000 card)
Zorro III (bottom slot that was overlayed by Toaster card)
PC Power slot (top slot in new HighFlyer bracket)
PC Power slot (second slot in HighFlyer bracket)
PC Power slot (last PC slot in HighFlyer bracket)
Video Slot (new video slot in HighFlyer bracket with Toaster installed)
A typical configuration could be, starting from the bottom: Video Toaster;
TBC#1 (input); TBC#2 (output); VScopeWForm; Flyer; SunRize; Zorro III (open);
Zorro III(open).
With the optional cable kit you can cable two 3.5" video drives and an audio
drive internally, eliminating the additional drive chassis and octopus cable.
The cable kit provides actively terminated SCSI Centronics 50-pin connectors on
the back of the HighFlyer for adding additional drives on the SCSI chains. You
can remove the drive terminations and plug in additional drives as needed
without opening the chassis.
In that case, we would recommend adding the 2" fan option to the HighFlyer for
additional cooling, and, also, using the additional 250W power supply to bring
the total wattage for the A4000 configuration to 395 watts.
With the extra cooling and power, hopefully the new package won't run as hot,
but with the video drives, only time will tell.
