#Genlock and RBG sync
Can someone suggest the proper monitor for genlock RBG video overlay?
For video overlay with a genlock card I'm using the GVP G-Lock VGA+
that is OEM'd by Magni and same as their Video Producer Pro I
believe. When it's turned on to do video overlay the RBG output to
the computer mointer drops down to match the NTSC horizontal rate of
15k. My NEC multisyns only go down to about half this as do most all
monitors. Of course I have the composite NTSC signal on my 21" TV
monitor but that's pretty 'ugly' to work with. Much better to work
with the RBG computer monitor if possible.
Magni told me that there are two they recommend. One of the two dealers
recommended told me they are both CTX monitors re-engineered by the same guy
to sync down to 15k. One company is CD Solutions and the other is PIxel
Labs. CD Solutions wants $500 now but $600 after NAB next week since
they've made of new enhancements. Pixel Labs wants $455 for the 'prior
unenhanced' version. They are 14". 20" will ship in a couple of months but
will be over $2k … too much for my use. Is this the way to go or am I
overlooking something?
Thanks.
