Interesting discussion on perspective distortions, but I have never heard anyone actual comment… "Nice image, but….the perspectives should be more bent over in this left corner" The fact is that not many people are even aware that this happens(myself included until your comments) means that no one has ever found it strange that they are not there. I tend to think that the effect you mention is more a result of optical distortions involving our physical eye rather than mathematically accurate. If this were the case then it would indicate that the light coming from the railway line was actually being bent, and although railway lines are heavy they don't exert that great a gravitional force in order to bend light <g>. The human visual system is not perfect and some inherent defects means that you'll get some distortion. Seeing how a fish eye lens distorts (traps) light, it is easy to image that our own eyes would also distort incoming light, albeit less.
