John, The mellenium batteries are lead acid and should not have the memory effect. They were purchased new. Directions say to charge the (first time only) for 16 to 24 hrs, which I did. The one battery wouldn,t even turn the camera on, and the second lasted about a minute. I exchanged them for 2 different ones and got 20 to 30 minutes out of each – even after several charge sessions. I returned both for a refund. Dealer said they were on his shelf only a few weeks. I checked the second set before charging, and found 1 at 10volts and the other at 12.7, so I figured they should certainly charge ok – wrong. I'll probably wind up getting a power pack of some kind because I have a session coming up in a few weeks where there is no ac available. Lynn
