#skin on an object
Monstah, I just had an interesting idea that may not get rid of the hard lines,
but may hide them.
What if you used the "FOG" setting arround the object at a very thin envelope,
By adjusting density and matching the "fogo" environment to that of the objects
appearance you may be able to hind the problem…and in graphics any problem
which is not seen..is not there. heheheh
I must confess that I almost never build things out of the primatives (thus
far). I always make the various components of an hiearchcial object utilizing
splines, sweeps, lathe, etc. for the basic components. The reason for this is
that I have much more control over the matrixes of any given object component.
You know some do not need a heavy mesh of vertices and points to fill the
memory, other need more detail but I try to keep the overall point count as low
as possible. Less points more memory + more room for objects. I find it is a
real pain when one object however good it may look uses so much memeory that I
can't use it with but one or two other object for a scene.
The beautiy of TS for me is the element of motion within a perspective that can
also be in motion. If it were just for color and images; Well …hey I'm an
artist I can do that faster on paper freehand. With TrueSpace it is like having
the equiptment of a motion picture studio. Few artists till now could really
afford that, and those that could…make or made movies. (smile).
I like to wonder about what Salvidor Dali would have done with access to
TrueSpace..What would Leonardo come up with? So on and so forth…I'm in a bit
of a slump…I don't like any of my work at the moment…in fact I hate it…
it is'nt good enough! Not to worry I have been through this transitional period
on a yearly basis all of my life and all of my art career. I means I am
digesting what I have learned from this recent wave of creative effort…and
after the slump I will have re-evaluated the work and come up with some better
variations. I also know that I will not always dislike this recent work…but I
am tired of looking at it…I can't tell you the will power it takes not to
destroy the work at times like this. However vain it may sound I combat this
thought by thinking "How rude it was of any Great artist to have destroyed any
of their work…imagine how good we would all feel to know that REmbrant had a
bad day and was completely capible of producing bad art! The lost early periods
of Great artist were probly lost by greater "negative" vainity than mine.
I may never be a great artist…or great anything…but if I should one day
become recognized as one of the… I have left a long road of what would then
be called historical markers showing that this proffession is one of long
development and proving that which we all secretly know, "that we never know!".
Well let me know the results if you try this TS trick and tell me more about
your work, if it is not an imposition.
