<continued> I've got reams of stuff like that… papers, proposals, predictions, cheerleading sections 😉 and so on; all people attempting to guess ahead and justify million$ in development costs. Well, I guess marketroids do that. The best paper was done by a college educator and production materials specialist. She brought up three main variables: 1. Price. We will want something affordable. 2. Compatability: We will want the courseware/software to play on any brand of player, regardless of manufacturer. 3. Performance: We will want performance better than other related and known technologies. CBM can meet #1, and #3 with some work. If they don't license CDTV, then they lose on #2… and I see it as pretty important. Let's say you went out to buy a CD (audio) disc player today. So you go to the store and there are dozens of brands. What's this? Here's one brand which doesn't play _anyone_ else's discs! Would you buy this orphan brand? Methinks CBM has a winner at first… and then a horrible loser… UNLESS (as so many bright people here have said) they license their stuff out. Then the question becomes: WHO would license it?? Most big name electronic consumer manufacturers are locked into CD-I already. Who's left?
