AHH! At last, the place to ask this question (and plug the last remaining
HUGH hole in my Laserdisk-player education):
Could you please explain about CLV/CLA (I know Constant Linear
Velocity/Constant Angular Velocity). What I am particularly interested in
are the implications of those 2 designations when buying a comsumer-grade
unit.
Do most of the newer units play either type of disk?
How can you tell if a disk is CLV or CLA (I've examined dozens of
shrinkwrapped packages at the local retailer and I don't find the
designation)? Is the TYPE of disk (feature film, instructional,
promotional) an indication?
Besides Freeze-frame (I read your and Karl's exchange), what other
features/options are affected by CLA/CLV?
You might want to include any other caveats you feel appropriate, as
well as point out other large gaping holes in my knowledge base 8-).
