Hi Tim,
I'm currently using a Quantum 105MB SCSI drive with my HardFrame 2000
and have had similar Read/Write errors occasionally as you do. Originally,
I had the Drive Partitioned into 2 Logical Drives and didn't have any
Read/Write Problems. But ever since I made 6 Partitions on my Drive, it
occassionally gets the Read/Write errors especially in very large files.
Clicking on the retry usually fixes it.
The Hardframe will autoconfigure your hard drive when you boot up so
that no mountlist entry is needed, though it is possible to use a mountlist
entry to manually mount the drive. As long as you use the RDPrep program
to configure the Rigid Disk Block area on your drive, you won't need the
Mountlist entry.
I agree that the documentation for it is terrible !!! The documentation
on the Installtion Disk called HardFrame.UserGuide should be enough to get
you through it. That is, if you accept the default parameters that it
SUPPOSEDLY reads off of your harddrive. Someone here in AmigaTech could
probably get you the Specs on the Miniscribe Drive, the same way I got mine
for the Quantum.
I hope you get your drive up running 100% like i'm trying to get mine!!
P.S. This weekend i'm going to backup my entire harddrive and reformat it.
Fun, Fun, Fun…….Here we Come ……
