After a number of years reading and sometimes contributing to these Amiga Forums, I'm about to leave, for a while anyway. I'd like to thank the people here who have taught me so much. After six years I'm still in awe of my Amiga. When I needed it to, it ran DOS, it ran MAC, it networked on a Sun system as a VT – then as an X terminal. It did database prototyping and publishing. It did it cheaply and reliably – and I got my help here. A great machine supported by great people. I'm leaving a long-term job for parts unknown, literally not on the map. Sixteen of us are attempting to establish a clinic in Zimbabwe and operate it 60 days each year with low-pay/no-pay volunteers. I'm in the low-pay category. 🙂 Along with dentistry and general medicine, we hope to correct cataracts and a crippling form of tendonitis. It's mundane in the US, but in Africa it's miraculous: making the blind see and the lame walk – and making them self-supporting, for they have nothing to lean on. I wrote a little Amiga "gawk" script for the pharmacy. As soon as the MSDOS computer running it fails (day 1? day 2?), my job is something like scrubbing the floors, which should remove any accumulated little-tin-godlike tendencies along with my knuckles. Again, thanks, I feel like I know many of you and I'll miss you.
