MicroTimes, Editor-in-Chief, Dennis Erokan, published by BAM Publications, Inc., 3470 Buskirk Ave, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523. Phone 510-934-3700. BAM also publishes Bay Area Musician, which is the sort of mag that Rolling Stone used to be – heavy on music, light on politics. Both are very professional and readable. MT presents a broad range of things from tech theory to commercial program reviews and while it's heavily MS-DOS oriented, it is *not* just another MicroSoft cheerleader. It has regular Mac and UNIX stuff and also profiles its advertisers, which is entertaining – stories about 5-person clone foundries, 3-person software houses, etc. While it is possible to *pay* for a subscription, MicroTimes is free in lots of computer, records&tapes, etc. stores in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas. As I recall, Leeds articles were started about two years ago by MT in response to "popular request." Maybe we should request a succesor named J. Hirschman.
