Doug, the Softdesk DTM module is more than just a DTM…..it does profiles, x-sections, bla, bla, bla…..we've got it 'cause we typically do general analysis for our clients……usually to give their engineering a head start. Softdesk has a complete line of CIVIL Engineering modules for earthworks, pipeworks, COGO, etc. Using the DTMs generated with it for renderings, animations, slides, etc. is a real boon to the firms for doing environmental impact studies. We've done quite a few "proposed" site models for mine sites, quarries, etc., using AutoCAD, Softdesk DTM, 3D Studio, AAPRO, etc. If you're just needing DTMs for rendering, Quicksurf would be an excellent alternative to the pricier Softdesk DTM. -Jeff P.S. Now that you mention it, I don't know what EMXS stands for either..?!? It's just referred by that name…..If you're interested in the Softdesk goodies, I'll get you a t'phone number and contact name.
