Steve,
I think that's great news about Merisel and CBM. It can only help sales
and that will benefit all of us. I just hope they don't forget to market
the Amiga as a Personal Computer, also. Since they're taking over the
entire product line, I don't want them to concentrate on the PC clones and
CDTV, and just use vertical marketing strategy for the Amiga. They should
push the Amiga as a personal computer for home and small business use. The
logical successor to the C64 and C128. I believe they sold 800,000 C64's
last year, and the Amiga only has 3 million sold in seven years. Many Amiga
owners have more than one Amiga, so that figure doesn't even represent 3
million people. Most Amigas are sold outside the U.S. So figuring the U.S.
sales and accounting for the multi-Amiga user, I estimate there are only
about 700,000 Amiga users in the U.S. That comes to about 13,725 Amiga
users per state, counting Washington D.C. That's really a pathetic figure.
Anything Merisel can to to improve that figure will be great. Thanks for
posting the news.
