I didn't have to do anything incredibly weird to set it up, though, so I'd
be surprised if the Supra's setup is your problem. Silly question: is your
modem cable 7-wire? CTS-RTS don't mean a thing if the signals ain't there!
Another thing you might want to look at is your CIS terminal settings. I'd
used VLT for a bit before I got into Whap!, and discovered some of the
weirdness concerning using different word-length and parity for "normal
comm" and the Quick-B downloads.
