Laser Library/SBPro
Can any one help with the following problem as I am finding it very
difficult to get assistance from the UK manufacturers/wholesalers.
I have a Sony CD Rom Library and Sound Blaster Pro card and am running
MS Windows 3.1.
Until now I have been happy running the CDROM (external) drive with the
headphones in the front socket to hear any speech/music etc from any
particular CDRom I happen to be using.
The next stage in the quest for Multimedia status of my PC was to try and
get the sound output from the CDRom via the SBPro board.
This is where I hit a snag as some disks, ie Screen Artists "Danger Hot
Stuff" demo CDRom plays very well via the SBPro card without any additional
leads connecting one to the other.
Seems fairly straight forward I thought so I tried the same trick with the
CDRom Comptons Family Encyclopedia but to no avail.
If I then use a "Y" lead to come out of the back of the CDROM drive and
feed it back into the SBPro card as an inward feed it works, albeit very
poorly as the sound quality and clarity are terrible. I hve adjusted the
volume controlon the SBPro card and it isatits loudest setting.
If whilst the CDRom is playing I unplug the headphones/speakers and re
connect into the front of the CDRom drive the quality of output is as it
should be.
Can any one help please as I am somewhat confused. Ragards Tim.
