I'm working on porting some Amiga code to Windows / Borland C++. The Amiga has a nice flat memory model, where a pointer is 32 bits and reaches everywhere, as Brian K. intended. 🙂 This means I've got lots of pointers to different types, integral types, my own typedefs, etc. I'd like them to act 'huge'. The code is ANSI C now, but with Borland, I've got the option of salting in a little C++, too. For the time being, I'd like to continue to use the same code on both platforms, with a few different headers of the same names. A purely C approach to this would be to insert a #define IHUGE huge in a PC header, then pepper the code with 'char IHUGE *' and #define IHUGE to be nothing in the corresponding Amiga header. As I understand it, there should be a way for me to re-define the '*' operator so that it acts 'huge', right? I haven't done much C++ at all beyond reading endless tutorials and overviews. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Read action !
