I'm overcome by inertia from sheer fear of wasting time… It's impossible for me to test every variation of software and hardware after I've tinkered with CONFIG.SYS. For example, after installing a beta of Video for Windows, my CDROM drive stopped working. Eventually, I had to remove Windows and re-install. And then there's tape drives, networking, Windows for Workgroups, applications like 3D Studio, Topas and AutoCAD that need lots of memory. Maybe I should do what many PC people do – buy a new machine for each application. 🙂
