I program a PC for a living. I have written pleny of software that runs in VESA SVGA 640 * 480 * 256, and the AGA machines can move bitmaps around much faster! Even compared to a local bus VESA machine, with code written to run in protected mode! Have you seen The 7th Guest yet? We ran it on our local bus 486, with the NEC multispin drive and 16 megs of ram. The graphics don't look too smooth! (They do look nice, and it's a great game though 😉
