TBC is used to correct minor imperfections in the playback of video from the less than perfect sync generated by the motor driving the head of the playback VCR. The proc amp will allow you to adjust thr black level, the white level, the burst phase, and chroma saturation level of the video signal. A TBC + Proc amp should always be used with monitoring equipment(waveform and vectorscope). The TBC will aid in the quality of a VHS dupe. You can buy one as a card that uses a slot in your PC. Check the classifieds in desktop video pubs. A TBC must always be used to stabilize video during frame grabbing for rotoscoping otherwise the grabbed frame will be distorted.
