David, I like my $199 dollar one (really a Mitsumi), but I did get the new
Mitsumi drivers on this forum and sped it up quite a bit. A cache doesn't hurt
either. If all you want is to read some data off the ROM its a great deal. I
haven't tried them with multimedia stuff, but I suspect they are a bit slow for
that.
The more expensive drive, I think, is a Sony.
