Advice needed
Hi, I'm about to buy a CD-ROM drive and could use some advise.
The two things I'm seriously looking at (due to availability here) are Media
Vision's Pro Media 16 bundle, which has a NEC 55J (I think) and a SCSI on the
sound card (ProStudio 16). Or a NEC CDR-74-1 which I can buy with or without
the controller.
I have a 486/50 with 16 meg. It has an Adaptec 1542B SCSI host adapter. The
Adaptec has a Segate disk and a Wangtec tape drive attached to it.
Here are the questions:
1) Can I attach both of those NEC CD-ROM drives to the Adaptec? 2) What
software do I need to make them work with the Adaptec? Is ASPIDISK sufficent?
3) Is the NEC 55J multi-session Photo-CD compliant? 4) Will both of the above
work with:
a) DOS/Win 3.1
b) SCO Unix (3.2.4)
c) OS/2 2.1
Thanks in advance.
