Yes, you do know me from your Amiga days, circa '85. I entered the Amiga
market as a writer. My first assignment for AmigaWorld was about how hard/easy
it was to develop software on the Amiga. Heaven forbid, I said the environment
was terrible. Before publication, a copy of the article circulated and your
subsequent complaint to the AmigaWorld editors caused them to spike the
article. I'll never forget you. 🙂 But I have forgiven you.
In '87, I started Syndesis with our 3D translation program, InterChange. It's
a deBabelizer / Hijaak for 3D file formats. We handle almost all the
Amiga-oriented formats plus most major PC formats (DXF, 3DS, Digital Arts,
Topas) and a few Mac formats (3DGF, Swivel) and some high-end formats
(Wavefront, Inventor). We licensed our translators to NewTek for the Video
Toaster. We also did the PICT import/export for the Toaster. And now we did
the Syndesis 3D-ROM as a way to introduce people to what InterChange can do.
We're looking forward to porting InterChange to several other platforms in the
coming months. Windows will be first, Mac second, and maybe SGI in there, too.

I'd love to implement all our translaters ors as Inventor plug-ins.
Then so many applications could import and export new 3D file
formats, … Have you got a spare SGi development system
you can send me? 🙂
