"I received a fax from my dealer informing me that I need AutoCAD in order to get 3D-Studio." It's not clear to me from what you said why you would be told that. 3D Studio users very often know about AutoCAD, but there are lots of 3D Studio users who have never heard of AutoCAD. 3D Studio is independent of AutoCAD. AutoCAD can create 3D objects which can be read into 3D Studio. One reason people might like to use AutoCAD is that it is geared to create very precises tolerances in its drawings. Architects would use AutoCAD and the MANY add-on packages to easily design buildings to code. They might then export the model into 3D Studio for rendering and animation. 3D Studio does not emphasize the "+/- .0001" tolerances while drawing – it's interested in appearance and animation! You can create architectural structures completely within 3D Studio if you wanted to. There just wouldn't be any dimensioning features, etc., that AutoCAD provides. Nik
