Faster parts could go in an Amiga that had switchable clock rates – easily done. Lots of PC's do that now with processors and/or I/o, in order to work with some of the games, etc, that just won't run in the more sophisticated environments. Or, they could go in an Amiga that was "new generation – IE, not a game machine. The idea of my 40 mhz machine slowing down to 700 kilohertz still fills me with ennui and itch. I'm one of those unfortunates who has a product that runs real-time stuff with the 8520's; and I can't think of a way to slow the machine down more without clogging chip ram to death. Time..
