. . .By the year 2003 fishing had become so efficient that fish stocks were dangerously low. The fishing "season" for most areas was reduced to a mere 48 hours to allow stocks to recover. (BTW this is already true for some species.) Enter the "Z-9000". It was designed to make the most of the 48 hour limit. The two striped net arms raise up and launch two fine electrified gill nets ten miles long and then it slowly rotates 360 degrees. It turned out the Z-9000 worked TOO well, sweeping a 20 mile circular area of all sea life. It was banned in 2005. This one was abandoned, and sat dormant until accidently activated by a pleasure craft's anchor. . . This is the problem that must be solved by our "Sea Watch" scouts in out student video.
