The Q700 has dedicated video RAM. It shipped (as I recall) with 512K of VRAM.
You can increase that to a maximum of 2 MB of VRAM. The on-board video is as
quick as it gets without a dedicated QuickDraw accelerator or PhotoShop
accelerator, and it's MUCH faster than the video on a IIci.
If you go up to 2 MB of VRAM, you can use 24-bit (16.7 million colors) video in
WYSIWYG mode on 16/17 inch monitors. 24 bit isn't really MUCH slower than
8-bit. However, the Q700 doesn't support the 16 bit video for which QuickTime
is optimized.
