Pat, RET is HP's "Resolution Enhancement Technique" (other manufacturers have about the same thing but have to call it another name to distinguish from the competition's) which basically means that you throw a 300x300dpi graphics file at the printer and it will "interpolate" (kind of guess where an additional in-between-dot should have been if the graphic was 300x600dpi). The DJ520 and DJ560C can do this (in B&W only) which means that diagonal lines will look a bit "linier" and curves "curvier" than in 300x300dpi without RET. I believe characters are also printed in enhanced resolution as standard. BTW, scanners usually do the same thing the other way round: the scan at, say, 600x600dpi and interpolate in-between-pixels to give a graphics file of 1200x1200dpi enhanced resolution. // Chris from Amigaland (Germany) \X/ flyin' high on AutoPilot 1.72
