Hi Tom!
I too just finished setting up a Gateway P5-90 and what a pain! Actually, if
I didn't need a sound card, ethernet, modem, SCSI and CD-ROM, not to mention
the additional IDE hard drive, the process would have been simple.
Anyway, for your CD-ROM problem, Gateway ships the system with it connected to
a second IDE port. Try removing it from this port and cabling it with the hard
drive and be sure to reset its jumpers to IRQ 14. (Read the CD-ROM manual for
more details.) That oughta get you going!
