You can't buy a monitor that will do everything. A monitor which syncs to every Amiga mode is lousy for the new graphics cards because it is incapable of syncing to the frequencies required for high-resolution displays (i.e., 800×600 NI, 1024×800 NI, 1280×1024 NI, etc.). If you get a third party graphics card, the only mode you are going to use on your monitor is the highest one (until you decide to buy a real monitor to take advantage of your new graphics power).
