Alan,
the problem here, as near as I understand it, is that you have to
figure out some way to tell the coprocessors that the memory they need to
access is out in LA-LA land, not where they expect it. Since they can't
address anything outside the memory locations they are hardwired to
expect, you are stuck.
I suppose you could reprogram the MMU to take care all this, using
exceptions and such, but is it worth breaking every program you own?
