Fossils! I just went again last week here in Tenn. I found a number of
grasses and plant fossils, as well as three good chunks of petrified wood. One
had bark that had turned to coal – we ground and polished one end to look for
growth rings but couldn't see any.
You can grub around with scuba in the rivers and find both fossils and
arrowheads. I've met people with buckets full. There are jillions of shells
in soft limestone in the springs, but I've never found any bones or anything
spectacular. Other cave divers have found whale and other fossils WAY back in
some of the underwater spring caves, but I haven't seen any yet. Hey Don
