Sure, two Pentiums in parallel must be great! 🙂 But, IMHO, they continue to be two wordperfect boxes in one adapted for graphics <g> It is not a matter of pure processing power. We need a real graphics oriented solution and I think it won't come from Intel neither from Microsoft. Again, the big dollars seem to be in the office for these guys, not in my studio not in yours. While flexibility is great in Intel computers… what we can do with it and the current operating systems. If one is good, like OS/2 or NT, it lacks of support, if the other has lots support, DOS&WIN, it has configuration problems and the maintenace cost goes up to the Satellite of Love. See? With Apple is different. They are not good because they are not supported by Adesk (yet) and, althought there is AutoCAD for the Mac, there is no 3DS. I, like many others, am waiting eagerly for 3DS to get ported to other OS/platforms. If a platform doesn't run what I want it to run, I don't bother about it. But read this story about the PowerMacs to understand what I want to say with graphics oriented computer. If you want to add a second monitor to a Mac, just got a 640×480 monitor and put it to run in a snap in the secondary video port while using the accelerator board to edit the image at 1600×1200. That is: get a 2240×1200 desktop. If you want it to grow, you just have to buy an accelerator board (maybe with some DSPs :), add it to a slot, plugin a new monitor and, tada!, a 3840×1200 work area. When these "details" could be "irrelevant" for 3DS, I can tell you that they are like gold for image editing purposes. These "little" details is what make a platform graphics oriented rather than business oriented. I agree with you. A good flexible supported OS is the real key for paradise but… how much time we have to wait for it (and have 3DS ported to it?) ana /krazy images
