It's been a while since I saw the inside of a 4000, but I know the 1200 is
all surface mount except for the 2 ROMS. What I was thinking of was an
adapter that fit over the PLCC and held the dip version of the 8520. After
all, I don't believe the PLCC 8520s were ever available via service parts.
So we're going to have some dead 4000's and 1200's lying about in an
unfixable condition. Unless someone starts collecting fried MB's and
saving them for parts.
