Has anyone got the silent answer feature of GPFax 2.342S to work with the SupraFax v.32bis modem? I checked (using the I10 command) and I do have option 141 (silent answer) on the modem. I followed the GPFax answering machine instructions (did not talk for the first 3 seconds of the announcement to give teh modem time to detect the CNG tones) and chose auto answer and silent answer in the options and set the environment to pick up on one more ring than the answering machine. When the incomming call arrives, I see the modem's "RI" status display (ringing) and one of the lights flashes (looks like the SD light, I think). This happens for the 4 rings the answering machine is set to. Then the modem picks up, the answering machine cuts off, I hear a long non-intermittent scream from the modem before the speaker turns off, then GPFax ends up hanging up the modem with no report generated, or it puts up a "time out" message and hangs the phone up a report showing a 0 page fax received for that took 3 seconds to receive. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? Also, any ideas on how to confirm the modem is in silent answer mode? There is nothing in the docs about a readback status or even a command to put it in that mode. wmc – via Autopilot!
