Tim Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. Western Digital and Maxtor IDE drives are well known in the PC realms for their lack of compatibility with other brands and/or controllers. Same goes for SCSI drives from them. I had a WD ide in my 386 and it refused to live with a Seagate too. I have also had my problems with ICD support efforts on a 2080 which, in contradiction of their latest ads, actually would NOT accept 8mb of ram. The tech I called commented "you got it to accept 6mb? you're lucky most people can only get 4mb to work". Then the new rom upgrade dropped support for OMTI and Adaptec4070A adapters and they still continued to sell OMTI adapters in their fall flyer last year. But in defense of ICD controllers they are one of the most versatile scsi host adapters out there and will run with a lot more different drives (than GVP will, in particular). So, like Commodore itself, I will suffer the bad service to get the engineering I need. You are implying that WD drives work with Dataflyer controllers I take it? Useful to know.
