Thank you for the answer to some of my questions. What are some of the
"student editions" of ACAD? What are they missing? What is the cost? As for
the 3D Studio v2 I hadn't heard about that either, I'll look into it. Also I'd
like to get more info on any sort of AutoDESK certification for teaching.
Take a look at a message I posted to Bob Diaz today.
I could go into a product wish list but that isn't what I'm worried about – I
am confident that most of the features that I need/want will be in R 13? (seems
like an unluky # to me) Anyway I am wondering about the other side of the
balancing act – support? I have yet to hear from anyone at ADESK about our
needs or wants adn I've been at that school for 7 years. That doesn't bother
me except when it is used as a jsutification for a higher price. As far as
books, teacher training, job placement… MicroStation has as many if not more
direct supports for this stuff that ADESK. I can go to Hutsville -Intergraph
central – take a class in 3D, mech. drafting, arch. drafting whatever. They
are also doing alot of expansion as far as "Authorized Training Centers". They
are agressivly going after your market.
I think that most of the educational institutions are fairly self sufficiant
and I can't think of anything else that I would like to see. We don't really
need much, the only thing I personally would be interested in (besides free
stuff) would be info on the Teacher Training programs. Is this more of
teaching techniques or more methods of "CADDing"? I think that a good class on
teaching methods would be very useful (especially for a few of our "CADD"
teachers). The one thing that would be great would be some advance releases
(probably not possible) so we can start teaching as soon as the software is
released, maybe before so our students are more prepared. Is Beta testing a
possiblity? We push our systems and software to the limit, might be a good
proving ground?!
Thanks, and any info on those few things would be great!!!
