Lanny — Where did you hear that the DOD may turn S/A off? I was thinking that the GPS manufacturers could get together and force the DOD to turn off S/A under the freedom of information act unless they could prove a big military advantage of 15 meter as opposed to 100 m accuracy. Just out of curiosity, how many sats does your Scout usually lock on to in your neck of the woods? You are in WA – right? Here in central CA I get six 99% of the time in flat terrain. I have noticed that your body can block or weaken the GPS signal. If you hold the unit close to your body and turn around, you will see gain or loss of signal strength on one or more sats. If you put your hand over the antenna, you usually lose them all. One implication of this is when using the unit on the side of a hill, you should probably stand with your back to the hill. — Bill
