Here is some information about 3D Studio Special Effects: The book is scheduled at this time to be in stock at the end of August (Boy! I'm going to be busy!) The book provides step-by-step instructions and illustrations for creating special effects with 3DS. We were able to get some of the best 3DS animators to contribute to this work. Authors include: Martin Foster, David Stinnett, Jon Bell, Tim Forcade, Keith Seifert, Greg Pyros, Steven Elliott, Phil Miller, among others. There is a CD-ROM in the book that contains everything needed to do the effects (Except 3DS and the 3rd party IPAS applications. The book doesn't focus on IPAS, but IPAS can't be ignored when you want to do cool special effects. There is lots of stuff that you can do just with 3DS in the book.) There will be a bonus 200MB of original animated and still maps done by Tim Forcade and his crew – the same group that did the ones for Inside 3D Studio. This time some specific guidance about how to use the maps will also be in the book. The book will be full color with lots of illustrations.
